New Sketches: ‘El Mayo’ Zambada appears in court for second time

Update: Ismael 'El Mayo' Zambada appeared in a wheelchair for a second time in an El Paso U.S. Federal Court along with his attorneys Frank A. Perez and Ray Velarde.
The status conference conducted by U.S. District Judge Kathleen Cardone lasted between 6-7 minutes; 'El Mayo' showed up right before 1 p.m.
Two key issues were discussed, including a possible conflict of interest with his attorney Perez and if he would be tried along with other Sinaloa drug cartel members.
Perez previously represented 'El Mayo's' son, Vicente 'El Vincentillo' Zambada Niebla in Chicago.
Zambada agreed to waive any conflict of interest and only said 'Si', or yes acknowledging Perez will be representing him.
Judge Cardone also mentioned that Zambada has a lot of co-defendants in the cases.
Another status hearing was set for Monday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m.
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Drug kingpin Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada is scheduled to appear in an El Paso Federal court Thursday afternoon for a status conference.
The hearing starts at 1 p.m. Zambada was arrested in El Paso after arriving on a private plane that landed at the Doña Ana County airport on July 25.
He was taken into custody by the U.S. Joaquin Guzman Lopez, son of drug lord El Chapo, was also arrested. He was taken to Chicago.
Zambada and Guzman Lopez are facing charges related to the operations of the Sinaloa Cartel.
