Driver killed in Far East El Paso crash identified as 17-year-old

Update (July 8, 2024): El Paso Police Department Special Traffic investigators say 17-year-old Joseph Flores Jr. was driving "at a high rate of speed" west on the 13000 block of Montana when he lost control and hit a curb, rolling his car into a large pole. Flores died at the scene.

Investigators say speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash.

This is the 35th traffic fatality of 2024, compared to 39 this time last year.


EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash in far east El Paso, early Friday.

We know the crash happened near the intersection of Montana Ave. and Justice St.

Fire dispatch says the call of the crash came in at 1:30 a.m.

Our ABC-7 crews say Special Traffic Investigators have been called out.
