Fatal pedestrian collision involved a Parkland High School student

Update: Ysleta Independent School District confirmed that a student at Parkland High School was involved in the collision.

The district released the following statement:

"At approximately 1 p.m. today, the Ysleta ISD Security team was made aware of an incident that occurred on Loop 375 near Bomarc Street involving a student from Parkland High School. We are working closely with local authorities to understand the circumstances. The safety and well-being of our students are the top priorities at Ysleta ISD, and we will be providing counseling services to any students, faculty, and staff members who request assistance."

Update: The pedestrian has died, according to a spokesperson for the El Paso Police Department.

Crimes Against Persons detectives are now looking into the crash. That division normally investigates violent crimes.

All lanes eastbound and westbound of Loop 375 remain closed.


EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- A crash along Loop 375 and mile marker 24 has shut down traffic according to El Paso Police.

Drivers are advised to exit at Railroad while first responders work on the collision that involves a pedestrian.

It happened at 12:48 p.m. and police say there is no other information at this time.
