2 murder arrests now made after teen’s body is found in northeast El Paso desert
UPDATE, Dec. 18: A second arrest has been made in the murder of Ramon Vargas, a teenager whose body was recently found in a desert area in northeast El Paso.
Police on Friday said 17–year old Angel Duran of El Paso has been taken into custody by detectives and charged with murder.
Vargas was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on Thursday, where authorities said he is being held on a $1 million bond.
UPDATE, Dec. 15: Police on Tuesday announced an arrest in the killing of Ramon Vargas, whose body was found in the northeast El Paso desert over the weekend.
Federal marshals took 21–year old Dalton Delgadillo into custody on Monday night in El Paso.
He's being held on a murder charge in the El Paso County Detention under a $1 million bond.
Authorities have not disclosed a motive in the case.
UPDATE, Dec. 14: Police on Monday identified the body found in a northeast El Paso desert area as that of 18–year old Ramon Vargas of El Paso.
"Vargas was the victim of murder," police said in a brief statement that provided few details except to say detectives were investigating and no other information was currently available.
Authorities said his body was discovered in a desert area off the 10300 block of Dyer on Sunday afternoon. That's a slightly different location than the one police previously provided.
ORIGINAL REPORT, Dec. 13: EL PASO, Texas -- The body of a young man was discovered Sunday in a northeast El Paso desert area near a mobile home park, according to police.
His body was found in the 6100 block of Sun Valley about 2:30 p.m. by someone who immediately called police, authorities said.
Crimes Against Persons detectives were later summoned to that location after officers believed foul play was involved. The case is being treated as a suspicious death that may be a homicide.
Police had no further details on the identity of the deceased. As the investigation continued at the scene well into the nighttime hours, no cause of death had yet been indicated.
Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects and they asked that anyone with information about the death contact El Paso police.
