WASHINGTON, Tacoma (KVIA) -- The El Paso Chihuahuas trailed 4-0 in the second inning Sunday before scoring the final eight runs of the game to win 8-4 over the Tacoma Rainiers. The Chihuahuas won five of the six games in the series. It was the Chihuahuas’ fourth series win of the season and the first time they’ve won five games in a series this year.

Behind 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Chihuahuas scored five runs in a two-batter span on a two-run double by Brett Sullivan and a three-run home run by Eguy Rosario. It was Rosario’s 19^th home run of the season to move past Tirso Ornelas for the team lead. Rosario also homered in Game 2 of Saturday’s doubleheader.

Cal Mitchell went 2-for-4 with a home run for the Chihuahuas and has also homered in back-to-back games. Mitchell has multiple hits in each of his last two games and had eight hits in five games played in the series against Tacoma. Nabil Crismatt pitched two scoreless innings for the Chihuahuas and hasn’t allowed any runs in his last 9.2 innings.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Chihuahuas are hosting a UTEP Night and asking all current and former Miners to turn out and turn the ballpark orange.

The game is happening Friday, August 30, 2024 at 6:35 PM at Southwest University Park in Downtown El Paso. The Chihuahuas will be taking on the Tacoma Rainiers.

The UTEP bands and cheer and dance teams will be in attendance to add some extra Miner spirit. UTEP President Heather Wilson will throw out the ceremonial first pitch, game organizers say.

The first 1,000 fans will get an exclusive commemorative t-shirt.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma (KVIA) -- Andre Lipcius hit a two-out, two-run, tiebreaking double in the bottom of the eighth inning of Oklahoma City’s 5-3 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas Sunday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The Chihuahuas had led 3-0 in the fifth inning before Oklahoma City’s five unanswered runs.

El Paso starter Jared Kollar allowed only one run in his five-inning start. It was the third time in the last four games that the Chihuahuas’ starter pitched five innings or more and allowed one run or less. Chihuahuas left fielder Tirso Ornelas reached base four times on three singles and a walk. Matthew Batten hit a two-run home run for the Chihuahuas in his first game back after being outrighted by San Diego. It was Batten’s 499^th career game with the Chihuahuas, the most in team history.

The Chihuahuas outhit Oklahoma City 12-5 Sunday. The final four games of the series were all decided by one or two runs. Oklahoma City won five of the six games in the series and 10 of the 18 matchups against El Paso this season.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma (KVIA) -- The El Paso Chihuahuas fall in game five against Oklahoma City, 1-0.

Andy Pages hit a line drive solo home run to left field with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning in the Oklahoma City Baseball Club’s 1-0 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas Saturday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Oklahoma City has won four of the first five games of the series.

Chihuahuas starter Nabil Crismatt struck out eight batters in 5.2 shutout innings. It was the second time in the last three games that El Paso’s starter has pitched more than five innings and allowed one run or less. Tom Cosgrove pitched a scoreless relief outing for El Paso and he’s allowed only one earned run in 18 innings since June 1.

Oklahoma City starter Alec Gamboa pitched five hitless innings and hasn’t allowed any runs in 10.2 home innings against the Chihuahuas this season. Brandon Lockridge’s single in the sixth inning was El Paso’s only hit. The one hit tied the Chihuahuas’ team record for fewest hits in a game. It was the sixth time this season the Chihuahuas were shut out.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Chihuahuas trailed 9-0 early in Sunday night’s game, came back to go ahead 10-9, but eventually lost to the Reno Aces 12-10 at Southwest University Park. The Aces won all six games in the series. It was the second time the Chihuahuas have been swept in a six-game series this season and the first time since late July in Salt Lake. 

El Paso shortstop Mason McCoy went 4-for-5 with four doubles and two RBIs. His four doubles set a new Chihuahuas’ single-game record and were one double shy of the Pacific Coast League record, set by Bucky Walters of the Mission Reds in 1933. McCoy has gone 25-for-56 in 16 games played in August. 

El Paso third baseman Jose Sanabria went 2-for-4 with two singles in his second game up from Single-A Lake Elsinore. Sanabria now has two multi-hit games in his 10 career games played in Triple-A. Reno’s Bryson Brigman hit a three-run home run in the top of the first inning, giving the Aces first inning homers in four consecutive games.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Chihuahuas held a one-run lead entering the seventh inning Saturday night but lost to the Reno Aces 6-4 at Southwest University Park. Reno has won the first five games of the series and the Chihuahuas have lost six in a row overall. 

Reno’s Albert Almora Jr. hit a home run in the top of the first, which was the third consecutive game that the Aces homered in the first inning. All four Chihuahuas runs came in the bottom of the fifth. Brandon Lockridge hit an RBI groundout and José Azocar hit a three-run home run. Azocar’s home run was his fourth of the season in Triple-A, and with a 109.3 exit velocity, it was the third-hardest hit home run by a Chihuahuas player this season. 

El Paso reliever Omar Cruz struck out seven batters in 3.2 innings Saturday and has struck out 17 batters in 15.1 innings over his last three appearances. Fellow reliever Tom Cosgrove pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his sixth straight scoreless appearance.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Omar Narváez hit a game-ending single in the bottom of the 11^th inning Sunday night to give the Sugar Land Space Cowboys a 1-0 walk-off win over the El Paso Chihuahuas at Constellation Field. The Space Cowboys won four of the six games in the series and went 14-7 against the Chihuahuas this season.

El Paso starter Omar Cruz pitched six shutout innings Sunday and allowed only one run in 11.2 innings in the series. Cruz, Lake Bachar and Logan Gillaspie combined to face the minimum number of batters through eight innings. No Sugar Land runners reached second base in the first six innings. Chihuahuas manager Pete Zamora was ejected for the second time this season in the sixth inning for arguing a check swing call. It was El Paso’s seventh ejection of the season and the second of the series (Eguy Rosario on August 8).

Sunday was the fifth time this season El Paso has been shut out. The Chihuahuas went 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position. The 11 innings tied both teams’ season high for longest game. Sunday was the Chihuahuas’ second consecutive extra-inning game and the sixth time they’ve played extra innings in the last 22 games.

SUGAR LAND, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Chihuahuas scored twice in the top of the 10^th inning Saturday night at Constellation Field and held on to beat the Sugar Land Space Cowboys 5-3. It was El Paso’s second win through the first five games of the series. 

The Chihuahuas’ two runs in the 10^th came on an RBI single by Kevin Plawecki and a sacrifice fly by Nate Mondou. Alek Jacob left two runners on base in the bottom of the 10^th to get his second save of the season, and his first since Opening Night, March 29 in Albuquerque. The Chihuahuas are now 2-4 in extra innings, while Sugar Land dropped to 6-4. 

Three-time Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander allowed one run in three innings in an MLB injury rehab start for Sugar Land. El Paso reliever Austin Davis struck out all five batters he faced in the eighth and ninth innings. EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The Oklahoma City Baseball Club scored five early runs and held off El Paso’s comeback attempt to beat the Chihuahuas 8-6 Sunday night at Southwest University Park. The loss ended El Paso’s three-game winning streak. The Chihuahuas won four of the six games in the series. 

Chihuahuas center fielder José Azocar went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs, while Mason McCoy went 1-for-4 with an RBI and his second triple in the last three games. The Chihuahuas’ 44 triples are the second-most in all of professional baseball this year, trailing only Albuquerque’s 49. McCoy went 10-for-23 with six RBIs in the series. 

Sean Reynolds pitched a scoreless three-batter top of the ninth inning Sunday. Reynolds pitched in four of the six games in the series and didn’t allow any runs. Tommy Nance pitched 1.1 scoreless innings for the Chihuahuas Sunday and hasn’t allowed any runs in his last four appearances. Oklahoma City’s Kody Hoese hit a solo home run in the third inning and has hit four of his 12 homers this season against El Paso.

Lake Bachar struck out five Oklahoma City hitters in a two-inning relief outing for El Paso. Chihuahuas relievers Jayvien Sandridge and Logan Gillaspie both pitched a scoreless inning at the end of the game.

El Paso pitchers held Oklahoma City 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position Saturday. Chihuahuas shortstop Mason McCoy went 2-for-4 with two singles, both of which drove in two runs with two outs. EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Chihuahuas set a new team record by stealing 10 bases in their 6-2 win over the Oklahoma City Baseball Club Thursday night at Southwest University Park. The previous record was also set against Oklahoma City, when the Chihuahuas stole nine bases at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark on July 21, 2023.

El Paso left fielder Brandon Lockridge reached base five times in his first game in the San Diego Padres’ organization, going 3-for-3 with three singles, two walks, one RBI and two stolen bases. Mason McCoy stole three bases for the Chihuahuas and Nate Mondou and José Azocar stole two each. The only other Triple-A team to steal 10 bases in a game in the last 20 years was the Fresno Grizzlies on April 10, 2011 vs. Las Vegas.

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler allowed four runs on seven hits in a 3.1-inning MLB injury rehab start for Oklahoma City. El Paso starter Nabil Crismatt allowed two runs in 5.1 innings to get the win against his former team. The Chihuahuas have won two of the first three games in the series.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso’s Cal Mitchell hit a double and a home run Sunday, but the Chihuahuas lost to the Salt Lake Bees 5-2 at Smith’s Ballpark. The Bees won all six games of the series. It is the first time since the Pacific Coast League adopted the six-game series format in 2021 that the Chihuahuas have been swept in a six-game series.

El Paso’s two runs came on Mitchell’s home run to lead off the third inning and a bases loaded walk in the eighth by Nate Mondou. Second baseman Graham Pauley went 2-for-4 with a double. Chihuahuas reliever Tommy Nance didn’t allow any baserunners in 1.1 shutout innings. The Chihuahuas caught five Bees trying to steal on Sunday.

Salt Lake has won 10 consecutive games, which is the longest active winning streak in professional baseball. The Chihuahuas have lost 10 in a row, which is the longest by a PCL team this season and the longest by a Padres’ Triple-A affiliate since the Tucson Padres lost 10 in a row in June of 2012.

SALT LAKE, Utah (KVIA) -- The El Paso Chihuahuas led 3-1 in the fifth inning Saturday at Smith’s Ballpark but lost to the Salt Lake Bees 11-6. It was the ninth straight win for Salt Lake and the ninth straight loss for El Paso.

El Paso starter Jared Kollar made his Triple-A debut and allowed three runs in 4.1 innings. Kollar struck out five batters and walked only one. Salt Lake starter Johnny Cueto allowed two earned runs in five innings in his first game in the Los Angeles Angels organization. The two-time MLB All-Star Cueto faced the Chihuahuas three times earlier this season while with Round Rock. El Paso designated hitter Brett Sullivan went 2-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run.

Tirso Ornelas had two doubles and a single for the Chihuahuas, moving his batting average to .321, which is third-best in the Pacific Coast League. Salt Lake’s nine-game winning streak is the longest active streak in Minor League Baseball. The Chihuahuas have had a lead in four of the five games in Salt Lake.

Eguy Rosario led off for El Paso and went 1-for-2 with three walks and an RBI. It was the second straight game that Rosario reached base four times. José Azocar went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, his first homer with El Paso or San Diego this season. The Chihuahuas are now 1-2 in extra innings this season. Sunday was the first home extra inning game for the Chihuahuas in 2024.

Sugar Land moved to 5-3 in extra inning games. Space Cowboys closer Wander Suero extended his Minor League Baseball lead in appearances with 43 and saves with 21. Former Chihuahuas Eric Lauer and Nick Hernandez both pitched for Sugar Land Sunday.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The Sugar Land Space Cowboys scored five unearned runs with two outs in the ninth inning Friday and came back to beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 7-5. El Paso led by two runs with two outs in the top of the ninth when Chihuahuas reliever Tommy Nance struck out Sugar Land’s Luke Berryhill, but Berryhill reached first base on an error by first baseman Nate Mondou on the throw that would have completed the strikeout and end the game. Sugar Land scored the five runs after that miscue.

El Paso starting pitcher Gabe Mosser allowed two runs in six innings and struck out a season-high eight batters. The Chihuahuas struck out 15 Space Cowboys to match El Paso’s season high for strikeouts in a game. Nance and Paul Fry combined to strike out four batters in the top of the ninth. It was the second time in team history and the first time since Parker Markel and Nick Ramirez in the seventh inning in Oklahoma City on June 15, 2021 that the Chihuahuas struck out four batters in an inning. El Paso third baseman Eguy Rosario went 2-for-5 with two triples to become the first Chihuahuas player since Luis Urías on April 24, 2019 to hit two triples in one game.

Chihuahuas designated hitter Tirso Ornelas went 1-for-5 with a solo home run. It was his team-leading 13^th home run this season and his fifth against the Space Cowboys. Catcher Brett Sullivan led off for the first time this season on Friday and hit a home run in the first inning, becoming the first Chihuahuas player since Clay Dungan on May 3 to lead off a first inning with a homer.

El Paso’s Eguy Rosario went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run, and he played right field for the first time in his professional career. Rosario’s homer followed one by Tirso Ornelas in the fifth inning, giving El Paso its first set of back-to-back home runs since Tim Locastro and Brett Sullivan on May 9, also in a home game against Albuquerque. Ornelas now leads the Chihuahuas in home runs with 12 and he’s hit seven in his last 17 games. San Diego Padres infielder Xander Bogaerts went 1-for-2 with a double and a walk and he played second base for five innings in his fourth MLB Injury Rehab game.

Chihuahuas first baseman Nate Mondou went 2-for-3 with a single, a triple and a walk. It was Mondou’s seventh triple of the season, which is the second most in the Pacific Coast League. Chihuahuas second baseman Clay Dungan went 0-for-1, ending his on-base streak at 34 games, which had been the longest active streak in Minor League Baseball. EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Chihuahuas beat the Albuquerque Isotopes 6-5 Saturday night on a game-ending single by Tirso Ornelas with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. It was Ornelas’ second walk-off hit this season, after his game-ending home run against Sugar Land on April 30.

Ornelas went 4-for-5 with a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game 5-5. The four hits set a new season high for Ornelas. The Chihuahuas trailed 5-0 in the fifth inning before scoring six unanswered runs. San Diego Padres infielder Xander Bogaerts went 0-for-3 with two walks in his third MLB Injury Rehab game with the Chihuahuas.

EL PASO, Texas - The El Paso Chihuahuas will be getting some added star power to their roster this week.

The club announced Wednesday night that San Diego Padres shortstop, Xander Bogaerts, will begin his rehab assignment with the club Thursday in El Paso.

The Chihuahuas are in the middle of a 6 game home series against the Albuquerque Isotopes.

Bogaerts is scheduled to be with the team through the remainder of the series that concludes Sunday at Southwest University Park.

Bogaerts is recovering from an injury to his shoulder that occurred during a game in May.

The 4X MLB All-Star was traded to the Padres back in 2022 from the Boston Red Sox.

While with the Red Sox, Bogaerts won two World Series championships.

ROUND ROCK, Texas (KVIA) -- The Round Express scored the game’s final nine runs in their 14-3 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas Sunday night at Dell Diamond. The teams split the six-game series. 

El Paso center fielder Oscar Mercado went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in the fifth inning against Round Rock’s Johnny Cueto. It was Mercado’s 11^th home run, tying him with Brett Sullivan for the team lead. Clay Dungan went 1-for-4 with a double to move his on-base streak to 30 consecutive games between Double-A San Antonio and the Chihuahuas. El Paso scored once in the top of the first on a sacrifice fly by Nate Mondou and the club scored 13 first inning runs in the series. 

Jhony Brito allowed four runs in 2.2 innings in his first start with El Paso after being optioned by San Diego. Nabil Crismatt allowed three runs in 1.1 innings in his first appearance with El Paso this season after being signed by San Diego to a minor league contract. Six El Paso pitchers combined to walk 10 batters Sunday, matching the team’s season high. The Chihuahuas finished their season series with Round Rock and won 10 of the 18 games. The Chihuahuas went 12-14 in June.

ROUND ROCK, Texas (KVIA) -- Round Rock starting pitcher Jack Leiter struck out eight batters in five innings in the Express’ 10-5 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas Saturday night at Dell Diamond. It was the Chihuahuas’ second loss in the first five games of the series.

Chihuahuas left fielder Clay Dungan went 0-for-4 but he had a walk to extend his on-base streak to 29 straight games between Double-A San Antonio and El Paso. It’s the third-longest active streak in all of Minor League Baseball. Chihuahuas first baseman Matthew Batten went 2-for-5 with an RBI single and an RBI double.

Paul Fry pitched two perfect innings out of El Paso’s bullpen in the loss. Round Rock’s Sandro Fabian went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs. It was the first multi-homer game against El Paso since Albuquerque’s Willie MacIver on June 12.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Chihuahuas beat the Round Rock Express 10-0 Friday night at Dell Diamond. It was El Paso’s fourth shutout this season, with all four taking place in Round Rock.

The Chihuahuas scored five runs in their 10-batter top of the first inning. El Paso has scored 12 first inning runs through the first four games of the series. Friday’s first inning rally included a grand slam by Tirso Ornelas, El Paso’s third grand slam of the season and the first since Graham Pauley’s on April 11 in Sacramento. Ornelas has hit five home runs in the last 10 games.

Sean Reynolds, Glenn Otto and Luke Westphal all pitched multiple innings in the shutout for El Paso. It was the sixth time Round Rock has been shut out in June. The 10-run win tied the Chihuahuas’ biggest margin of victory this season. El Paso’s last three games have all been exactly two hours and 38 minutes long.

Chihuahuas left fielder Tirso Ornelas went 3-for-4 to tie his season high for hits in a game. Ornelas is hitting .412 with a .462 on-base percentage in nine games over the last two series. El Paso second baseman Nate Mondou went 1-for-3 with a single and his third hit by pitch in his last four games. It was El Paso’s league-leading 51^st hit by pitch. The Chihuahuas’ lone run came on a first inning throwing error by Round Rock second baseman Justin Foscue to score Clay Dungan, who had reached on a single and stolen second base.

All six El Paso hits Thursday were singles. The final 10 Chihuahuas batters were retired in order. Paul Fry and Lake Bachar both threw scoreless outings out of El Paso’s bullpen.

The Chihuahuas’ two runs both came in the seventh inning on RBI hits by Mason McCoy and Clay Dungan. José Azocar was hit by a pitch in the first inning, which was El Paso’s league-leading 50^th hit by pitch of the season. Chihuahuas designated hitter Cal Mitchell went 3-for-4 with three singles and he’s reached base six times through the first two games of the series.

Mosser hasn’t allowed any runs in 11.1 innings pitched at Dell Diamond this season. He retired 14 consecutive batters at one point in Wednesday’s outing. El Paso has won the first two games of the six-game series. The Chihuahuas are now 9-5 vs. the Express this season.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The Sugar Land Space Cowboys beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 6-2 Sunday night at Southwest University Park in the final game of the Pacific Coast League’s first half. Sugar Land starter Colton Gordon allowed two runs in six innings in the win.

El Paso’s runs came on back-to-back pitches in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI triple by Oscar Mercado and an RBI single by Graham Pauley. Mercado’s triple was El Paso’s 33^rd this season, which is the second most in Minor League Baseball. Pauley went 2-for-4 with the RBI single in the loss. Chihuahuas second baseman Nate Mondou went 1-for-3 with a hit by pitch, El Paso’s league-leading 49^th hit by pitch this season. Chihuahuas relievers Alek Jacob and Jayvien Sandridge both pitched scoreless innings without allowing any hits Sunday.

Chihuahuas shortstop Matthew Batten went 3-for-5 with two doubles Saturday on his 29^th birthday. El Paso third baseman Eguy Rosario went 1-for-4 with a go-ahead three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. It was Rosario’s fourth homer in his last nine games. The Chihuahuas scored five earned runs in four innings against former Chihuahuas and San Diego Padres pitcher Eric Lauer, who was making his fifth start for Sugar Land.

Nate Mondou was hit by a pitch for the Chihuahuas, moving El Paso’s league leading total to 48. The Chihuahuas turned two double plays Saturday and they’ve turned 10 double plays in their last four games. El Paso first baseman Kevin Plawecki set a new season high for hits in a game by going 3-for-3 with a double. Chihuahuas center fielder Oscar Mercado hit a triple in the seventh inning, El Paso’s 32^nd triple this year. The Chihuahuas’ 32 triples are second only to Albuquerque’s 35 in all of Minor League Baseball. 

The Chihuahuas turned a double play in the seventh inning Friday, and they’ve turned eight double plays in the last three games. El Paso’s Tommy Nance and Lake Bachar combined for three shutout relief innings Friday. The Space Cowboys have won three of the first four games in the series.

Tirso Ornelas hit a 463-foot solo home run to right field in the bottom of the seventh. It was the longest homer hit by a Chihuahua this season. The Chihuahuas turned four double plays to set a new season high and have seven double plays in the field in the last two games. Sugar Land turned a 5-4-3 triple play to end the second inning. It was the third triple play ever turned against the Chihuahuas and the second this season turned by Sugar Land in El Paso.

El Paso third baseman Eguy Rosario went 0-for-3 and ended his streak of 25 consecutive games reaching base. Three Chihuahuas batters were hit by pitches Thursday. El Paso leads the league in hit by pitches with 47. The Chihuahuas had been 2-36 this season when trailing after seven innings.

The Chihuahuas’ three runs came on a two-run home run by Brett Sullivan and an RBI double by Tirso Ornelas. Six of Sullivan’s nine home runs this season have come against the Isotopes, including two in this series. Eguy Rosario walked in the sixth inning for the Chihuahuas, moving his on-base streak to 23 games.

Tom Cosgrove pitched 1.1 scoreless innings Sunday and has now gone nine consecutive appearances without allowing an earned run. Albuquerque hit two triples to move their team total to 33, which is the most in Minor League Baseball. The Chihuahuas’ 31 triples are the second most.

Albuquerque’s Coco Montes and Julio Carreras had four hits each. The Isotopes had 17 total hits, which tied the Chihuahuas’ season high for most hits allowed in a game. El Paso relievers Sean Reynolds and Jayvien Sandridge both struck out two batters in their scoreless inning. Matthew Batten and Brett Sullivan both had RBI hits for the Chihuahuas. 

Colorado Rockies pitcher Jake Bird threw a scoreless inning for Albuquerque on MLB Injury Rehab. Chihuahuas leadoff hitter Bryce Johnson reached base three times on two singles and a walk and now has the second highest on-base percentage in the Pacific Coast League (.434). Eight of the nine starting Albuquerque batters had at least one hit.

El Paso starter Gabe Mosser pitched six innings and allowed only two earned runs. Mosser tied his season high with six strikeouts and didn’t walk a batter. He’s allowed only four earned runs in 17.2 innings over his last three starts. Lefthanded relievers Tom Cosgrove, Luke Westphal and Austin Davis pitched a scoreless inning each to close the game.

El Paso first baseman Nate Mondou hit a go-ahead RBI double in the bottom of the sixth to extend his hitting streak to a career-high 11 games. Mondou added a double in the eighth. EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Chihuahuas achieved their largest comeback in team history, defeating the Las Vegas Aviators 17-16 after rallying from a 15-1 deficit in the fourth inning by scoring 16 unanswered runs. The Aviators had a remarkable fourth inning, scoring 10 runs, the most given up in an inning by El Paso since August 30, 2023, in Reno. In response, the Chihuahuas had a strong seventh inning, scoring nine runs, their highest in an inning this season, with six hits and 14 batters coming to the plate.

Las Vegas' left fielder Tyler Nevin, son of former Padre Phil Nevin, hit a grand slam in the third inning. Right fielder Hoy Park made history with both an inside-the-park home run and a three-run home run in the fourth inning, becoming the first player to hit two home runs in a single inning against El Paso. Both teams now have inside-the-park homers in the series.

Previously, the Chihuahuas' largest comeback was a nine-run deficit overcome on August 9, 2019, against Round Rock. This game set a new season-high for combined runs in a Chihuahuas game with 33. Nate Mondou led the team with a 3-for-5 performance, driving in a career-high six runs. The game was the longest of the season for the Chihuahuas. Both teams had their catchers ejected after a benches-clearing incident in the 8th inning.

The Chihuahuas trailed 3-2 with two outs in the top of the eighth inning when Mason McCoy hit a two-run, go-ahead home run. McCoy also had two singles in the game. Chihuahuas reliever Lake Bachar pitched 2.2 shutout innings and struck out four batters, giving him at least one strikeout in all 19 of his appearances this season.

The Chihuahuas had been 1-28 when trailing after seven innings before Saturday’s win. El Paso third baseman Eguy Rosario was ejected for arguing a call at third base in the bottom of the ninth inning. Round Rock is now 1-1 in extra-inning games this season. The Chihuahuas have won three of the first five games of the six-game series.

El Paso designated hitter Matthew Batten went 0-for-4, ending his 12-game hitting streak. It was the longest streak by a Chihuahuas player this season. Chihuahuas reliever Lake Bachar struck out two batters and has at least one strikeout in all 16 of his appearances this season, which is the longest streak in the Pacific Coast League.

Johnson was hit by a pitch in the seventh inning. It was the 37^th time this season a Chihuahuas’ batter was hit, which is the most in Triple-A. One game after not walking any opposing hitters, El Paso pitchers walked 10 River Cats Tuesday to set a new season high.

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (KVIA) -- The Las Vegas Aviators beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 5-1 Sunday afternoon at Las Vegas Ballpark and took the series from El Paso five games to one.

Chihuahuas second baseman Matthew Batten went 2-for-4 with a double, extending his hitting streak to 12 games. It’s the longest active hitting streak in the Pacific Coast League and it’s tied for the longest streak of Batten’s career. Batten has multiple hits in seven consecutive games. Oakland A’s outfielder Miguel Andujar went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs for Las Vegas in an MLB Injury Rehab game Sunday.

El Paso relievers Tom Cosgrove, Paul Fry and Sean Reynolds all pitched scoreless outings and combined for only one hit allowed in three innings. The Chihuahuas didn’t walk any Aviators Sunday. It was the third time that El Paso was shut out this season.

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (KVIA) -- The El Paso Chihuahuas beat the Las Vegas Aviators 11-3 Saturday night at Las Vegas Ballpark to end El Paso’s five-game losing streak. It also ended the Aviators’ five-game winning streak.

Chihuahuas shortstop Matthew Batten went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI to extend his hitting streak to 11 games, which is the longest by an El Paso player this season and one game shy of Batten’s career high. Batten has multiple hits in six consecutive games. El Paso third baseman Eguy Rosario went 3-for-4 with a double and his second home run of the series. Rosario scored four runs, which matched the most by an El Paso player in a game this year.

Nick Hernandez pitched two scoreless innings for the Chihuahuas and has now gone nine consecutive appearances without allowing an earned run. Left fielder David Peralta went 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI in his first game with El Paso after signing a minor league deal with San Diego.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The Albuquerque Isotopes scored in five of the first six innings Sunday and beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 10-5. The Chihuahuas scored four times in a nine-batter sixth inning to lower the deficit from nine runs to five but didn’t score in the final three innings. The Chihuahuas split the six-game series and their 12-game homestand.

El Paso first baseman Nate Mondou went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and and an RBI. Chihuahuas right fielder Cal Mitchell went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk. It was Mitchell’s second straight game with two hits and a walk. El Paso shortstop Mason McCoy went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

The final three Chihuahuas relievers (Paul Fry, Logan Gillaspie and Sean Reynolds) all pitched scoreless outings. Albuquerque’s Michael Toglia went 1-for-4 with a three-run triple Sunday and had eight hits and 11 RBIs in the six-game series.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso starter Jackson Wolf allowed three runs in six innings in the Chihuahuas’ 9-3 win over the Albuquerque Isotopes Saturday night at Southwest University Park. It was the Chihuahuas’ second consecutive win and their third win in the first five games of the series.

It was Wolf’s third strong start of the homestand. He’s allowed only four earned runs in 17 innings during the Chihuahuas’ current 12-game homestand. El Paso relievers Alek Jacob, Austin Davis and Nick Hernandez all pitched scoreless outings. The Chihuahuas haven’t allowed any runs in their last eight relief appearances.

Brett Sullivan and Eguy Rosario both homered for El Paso. It was Sullivan’s third home run of the series and Rosario’s first homer since being optioned to El Paso by San Diego. Tim Locastro went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI for El Paso and leads the Pacific Coast League in on-base percentage (.468). Cal Mitchell went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and two RBIs for the Chihuahuas.

El Paso starter Jackson Wolf didn’t allow any earned runs in six innings Sunday. It was the longest start by a Chihuahuas pitcher this season. Wolf pitched 11 innings in the series against Sugar Land and allowed only one earned run. Chihuahuas leadoff hitter Bryce Johnson reached base four times, going 2-for-3 with two walks, one RBI and three stolen bases. Tim Locastro started at second base Sunday and has started games at six different positions this season.

Sugar Land’s eight runs in the seventh were the most runs allowed by the Chihuahuas in an inning this season. This week was the first time that Sugar Land didn’t win a six-game series this year.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Chihuahuas trailed by three runs early but came back to beat the Sugar Land Space Cowboys 6-4 Saturday night at Southwest University Park. The Chihuahuas have won three of the first five games of the six-game series.

Bryce Johnson went 2-for-4 with a two-run tiebreaking double in the bottom of the fifth for the Chihuahuas. El Paso’s Tim Locastro had three walks and an RBI and leads the Pacific Coast League in on-base percentage (.471). El Paso reliever Lake Bachar struck out two batters Saturday and has at least one strikeout in all 12 of his appearances this season, which is the longest streak in the PCL this year.

Sugar Land turned three double plays Saturday and now has 39 this season, the most in Minor League Baseball. The Space Cowboys turned a 5-4-3 triple play in the bottom of the eighth inning. It was the first triple play in team history, the second ever at Southwest University Park and the first in affiliated professional baseball this year.

TACOMA, Washington (KVIA) -- The Tacoma Rainiers beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 12-5 in a six-inning rain-shortened game Sunday afternoon at Cheney Stadium. There was a 44-minute rain delay in the bottom of the fourth inning and a 30-minute delay in the top of the seventh inning due to wet field conditions before the game was called.

The Chihuahuas led 5-1 in the second inning before the Rainiers scored 11 unanswered runs over the rest of the game. El Paso’s five-run second inning was highlighted by Clay Dungan’s three-run triple. Dungan now has 31 RBIs this season, which leads all Triple-A players. Dungan and Matthew Batten were both hit by pitches Sunday, extending El Paso’s professional baseball leading total to 27 hit by pitches.

Tacoma scored at least once in all six innings. The Rainiers won four of the six games in the series. It was the Chihuahuas’ only visit to Tacoma this year.

TACOMA, Washington (KVIA) -- Tacoma’s Nick Solak hit two home runs and drove in four in the Rainiers’ 9-2 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas Saturday night at Cheney Stadium. The Rainiers have won three of the first five games of the six-game series.

The Chihuahuas’ two runs came on an RBI fielder’s choice by Brett Sullivan in the sixth inning and an RBI groundout by Oscar Mercado in the top of the ninth. Sullivan also hit a double in the game, his third double in his last three games.

Chihuahuas reliever Lake Bachar struck out three batters in his scoreless seventh inning and now has 17 strikeouts in 13.2 innings pitched this season. Bachar’s ERA through nine relief appearances is 0.66. Seattle Mariners pitcher Bryan Woo threw 3.1 shutout innings in an MLB injury rehab start.

Left fielder Tim Locastro went 3-for-4 with three singles and two stolen bases for the Chihuahuas. Clay Dungan led off for El Paso and went 1-for-4 with a sacrifice fly and two RBIs. Dungan’s 25 RBIs lead the Pacific Coast League.

Second baseman Nate Mondou went 2-for-5 with a double and his first home run with El Paso. Longtime major leaguer Donovan Solano went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI in his first game with El Paso.

Albuquerque right fielder Hunter Goodman went 2-for-4 with a double and his fifth home run of the series. The seven runs in the first were the most allowed in an inning by the Chihuahuas this season.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The Round Rock Express scored six runs in a 10-batter top of the fifth inning and beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 9-6 Sunday afternoon at Southwest University Park. The teams split the six-game series.

Round Rock’s fifth inning rally started with an inside-the-park home run to right-center field by Dustin Harris. It was the 10^th inside-the-park home run ever hit against the Chihuahuas and the first since Derrik Gibson on May 7, 2018 at Albuquerque. It was Round Rock’s first inside-the-park home run since Bubba Thompson’s on June 18, 2022 vs. Sugar Land.

El Paso leadoff hitter Clay Dungan went 3-for-4 with a walk and three RBIs. Dungan fell a home run shy of a cycle and he now has 18 RBIs through nine games to lead the Pacific Coast League. Chihuahuas right fielder Tim Locastro went 1-for-3 with a hit by pitch. He’s now been hit by a pitch five times in 17 plate appearances this season.

Tim Locastro reached base four times for El Paso, going 2-for-2 with a double and two hit by pitches. Locastro has been hit by a pitch four times in 13 plate appearances this season. Chihuahuas leadoff hitter Clay Dungan went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and four RBIs. Dungan has 15 RBIs in eight games this season.

Lake Bachar got the win after pitching his 11^th consecutive appearance without allowing an earned run, dating back to last season at Double-A San Antonio. El Paso reliever Matt Festa pitched a scoreless ninth inning, his 14^th straight appearance without allowing an earned run, also dating back to last season while he was in the Seattle Mariners’ organization. The Chihuahuas have trailed by multiple runs in three of their last four wins.

EL PASO, Texas - The Round Rock Express beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 8-4 Tuesday night at Southwest University Park.

It was just the third time the Chihuahuas lost in the 10 home openers in team history.

El Paso’s runs came on an RBI single by Matthew Batten, a solo home run by Bryce Johnson, an RBI groundout by Clay Dungan and an RBI double by Brett Sullivan.

Chihuahuas starter Randy Vásquez allowed two runs in three innings in his first start in the San Diego Padres’ organization.

Vásquez struck out three and didn’t walk any batters.

The Chihuahuas came back twice from multiple run deficits to tie the score early in the game.

Texas Rangers pitcher Jonathan Hernández pitched a scoreless inning on MLB Injury Rehab for Round Rock.

Batten reached base three times for El Paso in the loss.

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (KVIA) -- The El Paso Chihuahuas trailed at four different points Sunday, and they came back to beat the Albuquerque Isotopes 16-15 at Rio Grande Credit Union Field. The Chihuahuas won two of the three games in the season-opening series.

The Chihuahuas were behind 9-8 entering the ninth inning and scored eight runs in a 12-batter rally that included a grand slam by first baseman Brett Sullivan. It was the Chihuahuas’ first grand slam since Ray-Patrick Didder on September 3, 2023 at Reno. The Chihuahuas led 16-9 with two outs in the bottom of the ninth before the Isotopes rallied for six runs and brought the tying run to the plate. Austin Davis struck out Sam Hilliard to get the save in his second scoreless appearance of the series.

El Paso right fielder Cal Mitchell went 4-for-5 with a triple and a walk and has reached base eight times in the last two games. All three games in the series were decided by one run. Chihuahuas shortstop Mason McCoy went 2-for-3 with two walks and a go-ahead three-run home run in the eighth inning on his 29^th birthday. Eight of the nine starting Chihuahuas batters had at least one hit.
