ABC-7 now broadcasting in cutting-edge NextGen-compatible signal
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- ABC-7 is taking a bold step into the future with the introduction of new state-of-the-art broadcasting technology.
This week, ABC-7 started broadcasting a brand new signal compatible with NextGen TVs. These Ultra HD devices use the same technology foundational to the internet to give viewers special live event features, personalized adds, a more life-like watching experience, and movie theatre-quality sound.
Viewers with older model TVs can still enjoy ABC-7 newscasts as we continue to broadcast our legacy signal, too. When it is time for an upgrade, consider purchasing a NextGen TV. That will allow you to take advantage of even more incredible ATSC 3.0 features to be available on ABC-7 once programming is distributed in this format. Look for the NextGen symbol the next time you head to the store.
Networks will soon begin broadcasting this new signal as well. When that happens, brighter colors, sharper images, and clearer sound will transport NextGen TV owners into the stands of NFL games, onto the Dancing with the Stars dance floor, and into the World News Tonight studio with David Muir. We will let you know when the network takes this step so you won't miss out on all these enhanced features.
For the past several months, BitPath, a company developing new broadcast technologies, led five El Paso news stations in planning the installation of this new equipment.
This team effort between KVIA, KFOX, KDBC, KTSM, and KTDO is putting El Paso and Las Cruces at the forefront of broadcast technology. The entire ABC-7 team worked hard to ensure that every Borderland resident has access this premier service.
