Rosemary Montañez, GMEP co-anchor
Rosemary Montañez was born and raised in El Paso.
As a child, the one activity that she remembers doing daily was watching the evening news! It was through watching the local television newscasts that Rosemary’s love for broadcast journalism was born.
At an early age, Rosemary knew that this was the career path that she would embark on!
After graduating high school, Rosemary decided to continue her education at El Paso Community College. At EPCC, she encountered several professors who helped fuel her love for journalism and who guided her towards her next destination.
Soon after graduating with an Associate of Arts in Radio and Television Broadcasting in May of 2019, Rosemary continued her education at New Mexico State University. Rosemary chose NMSU because of the strong, hands-on journalism program that the university provided. At NMSU, Rosemary became very quickly involved with KRWG News22, NMSU’s live, student produced broadcast. Because of her time at News22, Rosemary was able to gain an invaluable wealth of knowledge. The program has helped Rosemary develop her broadcast skills and she was also able to enhance other journalistic skills along the way.
Rosemary is also a student member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and was recently selected to receive the Ruben Salazar Scholarship.
Rosemary is ecstatic to be telling stories in her hometown! She is very passionate about sharing the news in her own community.
Please feel free to say hello, send her story ideas, or food recommendations.
