El Paso man arrested in Juarez for driving under influence previously punched officer, officials say

Road security agents in Juarez who arrested an El Paso man for driving under the influence also say the man previously assaulted an officer at the border.
Juarez officials say they stopped a man identified as "Edgar T." at Ruben Posada Poma and Adolfo Lopez Mateos after he ran a stop sign. Road safety agents performed a breathalyzer test, which they say gave a positive result.
Agents say they also identified him from a previous incident. On July 13, officials say Edgar punched a highway police officer while waiting to cross at the Bridge of the Americas before escaping.
He will serve 36 hours for the DWI and has been fined 10,000 Mexican pesos, or $520.
JUAREZ, Chihuahua (KVIA) -- Road security agents in Juarez arrested an El Paso man they accuse of hitting one of their officers.
The man, identified only as Edgar T., was waiting in line at a port of entry when he ran a stop sign. Agents then pulled him over. This happened July 13, 2024, officials in Juarez say.
Officials say they arrested Edgar after he punched an officer. He then reportedly failed a breathalyzer test.
He was given 36 hours in a recovery center and fined 10,000 pesos.
